What is EMDR?
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing or EMDR is an evidence based technique used mainly for reducing the distressing feelings associated with a disturbing event. This technique uses bilateral stimulation and I personally prefer using “buzzies” or pulsers but can also use tapping. Most clients I work with feel a reduction in distressing feelings in just a few sessions but keep in mind that everyone has different experiences and no two people will process trauma in exactly the same way.
What if I don’t like
No problem! There are many other techniques I use in therapy:). Although EMDR helps many people, it’s definitely not the only way we can work together to achieve a common goal.
